My Top Five Best Dressed at the Oscars 2011

So who watched the Oscars last night?  My favorite part of the show had to be all of Anne Hathaway's outfit changes.  Rachel Zoe and team did an exceptional job styling her.  My favorite dress of hers had to be the long cream colored one with the fringe beading as seen here.  So GORGEOUS!  Here are my top five best dressed picks...
 5.  {Michelle Williams in Chanel.  Her hair and makeup was stunning}
 4.  {Halle Berry in Marchesa. With a face like that anything looks good!}
 3.  {Penelope Cruz wearing L'Wren Scott.  She looked so AMAZING just a couple of months after giving birth.}
 2.  {Celine Dion in Giorgio Armani Privé. I was shocked at how great she looked.  Must be that new mommy glow}
For my number one pick there was a tie....
1.  {Cate Blanchett wearing Givenchy Haute Couture.  Although the silhouette of this dress may not be for everyone, the details were insane. Tons of leather wrapped beading, micro pleats, hello!!?}
1.  Mila Kunis wearing Elie Saab. So pretty, feminine, sexy.  The color is fantastic.  I could go on and on about this dress}

Currently Reading: Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk

I am a HUGE David Sedaris fan. I'm currently reading his latest collection of short stories, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. While using animals in the place of humans, it showcases human nature at it's best and worst. Some parts can be a little morbid, but some you can't help but giggle. The book includes illustrations by Ian Falconer; of Olivia the Pig fame. This is basically a children's book for adults.
Here are a few other David Sedaris books I highly recommend. They are laugh-out-loud funny. My husband has been a witness to me cracking up when reading these...

Rockabye Baby

I know this is a pretty random post, but when I truly love something I have to share it with the world.  Rockabye Baby was born of the need to make children's music cool--not only for babies but for their parents too. Their lullabies are a collection of punk, metal, classic rock, hip hop and pop. They make the perfect gift for new parents/newborns.  Chris and I have already given them out as gifts to our nieces and nephews.  These are super cute so if you have never heard them I suggest visiting the site and giving a listen to snippets of each CD.  So adorable!  Here are some of my faves...

Food Porn of The Week: Arañitas

Arañitas when translated into English means little spiders.  These crunchy and delicious plantain fritters get their name from the shredded plantain that resembles tiny spider legs when fried.  Sounds kinda gross, right?  Well, they are DELICIOUS!  Total Puerto Rican comfort food.  I served mine with some Mayo Ketchup.  This was known as "Fancy Sauce" in the Movie Stepbrothers.  It's really just equal parts mayonnaise and ketchup.  I don't use a recipe because this is beyond easy to make, but here is a good one to follow.

Going Tribal

I'm loving all things tribal lately.  These necklaces are perfect paired with basic pieces in your wardrobe because they make a huge statement on their own.  The more detailed the necklace the better.  Rock one with a blazer, plain tee and boyfriend jeans during the day and a minimalist maxi dress at night.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This weekend Chris and I gave decorating sugar cookies another try.  We've gotten better, but still need to perfect our technique.  We're giving these out to our families as Valentine's gifts.  Today we are planning on whipping up our traditional surf and turf Valentine's Day dinner all in the comfort of our own home.  Hope your day is full of LOVE!
