What to be for All Hallow's Eve?

Still don't have a Halloween costume?  It's going to be ok.  No one is judging.  For the second year in a row I plan on making up a last minute costume using items straight from my closet.  Check out my DIY Frida costume from last year...
I had everything on hand except for the flowers which I took from my mom's autumn wreath.  Of course I put them back on when I was done ; )
I'll let you know how this year's costume came out next week.
Have a Happy Halloween, ya'll!

Food Porn of The Week: Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes

What enticed me about these cupcakes was the fact that they took on the flavor of a traditional cup of Mexican hot chocolate, which I absolutely love.  The recipe starts with a box of store bought dark chocolate cake mix.  Add in some pumpkin, cinnamon, eggs, and chocolate chips and the end result is one of the most moist and light cupcakes you have ever had.  The star of the show has got to be the cinnamon.chocolate.cream cheese.frosting.  Need I say more?  I chose to decorate these lovelies with some Dia De Los Muertos flair.  Perfect for any Halloween themed festivities this coming weekend.

The Velvet Underground

The Velvet Underground
Throughout time velvet has gotten a bad rap.  Please don't remind me of the pair of extremely unflattering velvet pants I owned back in the day.  Yikes!  When done the right way velvet can add the perfect touch of texture to an outfit.  Whether you choose to go with basic black or add a splash of color, velvet can be a very good thing.

Strawberry Fields Forever

As I mentioned here, I love the warm glow of Central Park in the autumn. That being said, I couldn't think of a more romantic place to be on our anniversary. We took a stroll through the west side of the park which included Strawberry Fields and took some really great shots. These were just a few that were captured.

Four years ago today we were married.  The time has gone by so fast.  Can't wait to see what the next four years will bring us.  I Love you, babe ; )

Style Icon: Ali Macgraw

Ali Macgraw is one of my all time favorite style muses.  During the 1960s she began working as a photographic assistant at Harper's Bazaar.  She also worked at Vogue as a model and photographer's stylist, but she is most famous for the iconic film, Love Story.  She's an absolute natural beauty.  Her style of dress was flawless.  Here are some of my favorite shots of her...

Food Porn of The Week: Apple Crisp With Vanilla Brown Butter

Apple Crisp is one of my favorite fall deserts.  I like to go pretty traditional when I make my apple crisp.  When I saw this recipe that included a vanilla brown butter I had no other choice, but to include this yummy butter into my crisp.  Hello can anyone say perfection!?  As I was making this yummy deliciousness the intoxicating aroma of fresh vanilla could be smelled throughout the house.  Topped with vanilla bean ice cream, this made for the perfect treat after pumpkin picking.

The Pumpkin Patch

I am officially in autumn mode!  This weekend we made a little trip out to Secor Farms for some pumpkin picking.  To our surprise there was a hayride, petting zoo, and corn maze.  Needless to say Chris and I had no problem bringing out our inner child, enjoying every moment of it.  The selection of different pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn was awesome.  As soon as we got home we carved our pumpkins and roasted the seeds.  I love the fall season.

Comfy & Cozy

{H&M}
{Milly}
As the days and nights become increasingly chilly I look forward to the comfort of a cozy sweater or cardigan.  They are the perfect defense against the brisk winds that are fast approaching.  Not to mention they are really great layering pieces.  How amazing is the H&M cardi pictured above!?  At only $30 it’s a total steal.  Stay cozy!

Rosey

Rosey

Most recently I have been mildly obsessed with rose gold.  I swoon whenever I see the ads for this Michael Kors rose gold-plated watch.  Rose gold was pretty huge in the 80s.  I'm really glad it's making a come back.

Drug Store Faves

I don't know about you, but I find so much joy in a trip to the drug or beauty supply store.  There are a plethora of products waiting to be discovered.  As well as the good old classics that come into my possession time and time again.  Here are just a few of my go to favorites...
Aussie Hair Insurance leave-in-conditioner - Super Cheap, not too heavy, does the job.

 The Melt Away Stress Collection by Johnson & Johnson - The scent is heavenly.  I always have the lotion on my desk at work.  It seems to do the trick.
Smith's Rosebud Salve - Great as a lip balm, but also really good for dry patches and cuticles as well as many other uses.
Vaseline - Wonderful as an eye cream and eye makeup remover.  Great for chapped lips too.
Buf Puf facial sponge - I use this every other day with my facial cleanser.  I find that it's the ultimate exfoliator.
Dove Original Clean Antiperspirant - Absolutely love the scent!
What are some of your drug store faves?
