The Event of a Thread

 

Last Sunday Chris and I attended Ann Hamilton's installation at the Park Avenue Armory, The Event of a Thread.  We had never been to the armory before.  The atmosphere was straight out of Gangs of New York.  The exhibit itself pretty amazing. If I could only use one word to describe it, it would be whimsical. Ladies in cloaks read from these super long scrolls. You couldn't hear a word they said until you found these random paper bags scattered across the floor of the armory. Inside the bags were speakers to hear the readings. My favorite part of the installation was the swings, duh! All the swings were connected to strings which were connected to this huge piece of fabric in the center of the exhibit. As everyone swung the fabric would move and create these beautiful shapes. We also laid underneath the swaying fabric while listening to the ladies read. It was awesome to say the least.

Scenes From The Weekend

So, we leave for Florida tomorrow and I am pretty excited.  Although, I have been avoiding packing like the plague.  Guess I’m not going to sleep tonight :/

We checked out the Clarence Rich show in Philadelphia this past weekend.  Such an amazing artist.  We also put up our Christmas decorations.  I’m officially in the holiday spirit.

Life Lately

 {last week we welcomed our first snow storm.  I'm using the term "welcomed" very loosely}

I don't know about you, but I am in total disbelief that Thanksgiving is next week!  That being said the menu planning has commenced.  On a separate note life after Sandy is slowly, but surely getting back to normal.  Chris and I ventured out to the mall this weekend and it was worse than shopping during the holidays.  Total madness.  I think everybody and their mama just wanted to get out of the house.  The experience just solidified the fact that most of my Christmas shopping will be done online.  I really can't deal.
Last, but not least I made these AMAZING apple dumplings.  The recipe is ridiculously easy, so much so that I have it memorized.  The secret ingredient is Mountain Dew.  Yes, Mountain Dew.  I don't know what it does all I know is that these were the best things ever and I am not eating carbs for the next few days.  Have a great week!

Life Lately

{got a little crafty}

We celebrated our six year wedding anniversary yesterday.  After having lunch at one of our favorite local spots we headed into the city to check out the “RegardingWarhol” exhibit at one of our favorite places, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  We are both Warhol fans so needless to say it was a great experience.  I definitely recommend checking out the exhibit before it closes on December 31^st.

Scenes From The Weekend

{welcome to Philadelphia}

Sometimes the best moments are unplanned. That was the theme for this past weekend. We went to support our good friend, Then One at his first solo art show in Philly. We planned on taking the 2+ hour drive back home that night, but decided last minute to stay at The Rittenhouse 1715 a charming boutique hotel. We're so glad we did. Philly truly is a welcoming city that always makes us feel right at home. To see our last trip to Philadelphia click here. The rest of the weekend included a baby shower, Sunday morning mass, a delicious brunch at my sister-in-law's house, a couples massage and a delicious Cuban dinner. It was a very eventful weekend to say the least.
